Superhero 30th Birthday Party

My husband Nick turned 30!  And so I put on a superhero party for him as he loves all things comic related.

Funny thing is that he's not quite a party person... So I may have convinced him to do something small, which then got bigger and then turned into an actual themed party with just under 30 of our closest friends and family.  Definitely had a superhero party adventure!

One of our friends Karaine, had a brilliant idea to make a themed cake for his birthday. When she showed me what she wanted to do, how could I not theme the whole dinner turned party?! I had to do justice to the cake! From there the planning began.  Have to say, Pinterest has changed my life and gets me so excited and inspired to plan and action these do's!

DIY Decorations
Bunting
Spider-Man is his all time favourite with Batman and Superman up there too.  From here decided to go with the red, blue, yellow and black colour scheme - super comic colours!
Wasn't too hard to chop triangles and sticky tape them to some twine.  Made 6 sets of 8 flags.

Happy Birthday Batman Signs
Recurring signage is the key! And make it big too, we had 4 around the house.  Used 4 pieces of A3 paper to enlarge it.

Comic City Backdrop with Funko Pops
Get some old boxes, use poster paint to paint it black and cut out yellow paper for windows. Takes 1-2 hours only - such a great and effective backdrop!  Accessorise with any superhero action figures - we used our Funko pops.

Spiderweb
Mediocre idea! Just used crepe paper and tape that was safe for the walls.

Superhero Table decos
A lot of cutting involved!  But adds a fun element to the tables. Cut circle symbols and sticky taped to skewers and paper straws and then place in glasses filled with some rice to make it stay.

Food flags
Again a lot of cutting!

And then I also just shifted things in the house and displayed as many of his toys, statues and comics around the house.  Good thing he had so many!

While all of these crazy DIY decos was going on my amazing husband was making us an outdoor lounge set out of milk crates.  We definitely are a rockin DIY family. They looked great and served a treat in order to host more people outside.

Themed Food

The EPIC cake
Truly amazing..... Just admire the photo please!

Pick Your Super Power
Fruit kebabs! Such a fun way to do them as everyone gets to pick what fruit they want to eat.

Jelly cups
In blue, red and yellow.

Have to say, I was quite proud of my party efforts!  5 months pregnant and feeling great.  And since I'm having a baby boy, this was definitely good practise, I'll be able to reuse all of this in a few years too :)
